Following the traditional series of Biotechnology meetings organised by the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology of Havana, Cuba, the 2008 edition will be devoted to Agricultural Biotechnology, under the theme “AgBiotechnology: facing huge challenges with new approaches”.

The meeting will have sessions in the following symposia:

• aquatic biotechnology;
• modern biotechnologies for animal health;
• animals as bioreactors and biomodels;
• biosafety in genetic modified organisms and bioproducts;
• molecular plant – pathogens interaction;
• probiotics and prebiotics: active ingredients of functional foods;
• control of crop pests with biotechnology tools;
• plant-made pharmaceuticals; and
  
• business opportunities in Ag-Biotechnology.
