Responsibilities

- To ensure Trait research group functional excellence and contribute to business strategic direction; to promote innovations in line with Syngenta R&D strateg & Business Development.

- To provide, manage & develop function resources (people, resources, facilities). Implement and maintain consistent policies emphasizing a safe, productive and fun environment in workplace.

- Be able to efficiently establish a course of action for trait research group to accomplish project objectives in a timely manner. Work cooperatively locally and globally.

- Coordinate research strategy with other functions and business, such as Regulatory Affairs, IP & Licensing. 

Experience Required

- Good knowledge and/or experience in gene manipulation, gene expression optimization, plant metabolic pathway and gene network.

- Ph.D. with over 10 years industrial/academic experience specifically in field of the plant science.

- Management of resources & organization of the function (planning, executing, staffing & leadership for all approved projects).

- Ensure awareness of emerging science, technology foresight, and pro-active assessment of implications for function and facilitating the development of the function to meet future needs.

- Coordinate research strategy with other funcctions and businesses, such as Regulatory Affairs, IP & Licensing.

- By personal example, be seen as leaders of research within site, division, company and support core R&D values.

- Act as team players with a commitment to transcend site and organizational silos to make decisions for R&D & Syngenta business units.

- Ensure that the highest quality staff are recruited, trained, developed, motivated and provided with appropriate physical resources.
